ISG’s relationship with repeat client Spire Healthcare began in 2015, and we have now worked on a number of projects for the private hospital.
The first project, St Anthony’s Hospital in Cheam, Surrey, saw the team extend the existing hospital building with an extension accommodating six brand new operating theatres, including a hybrid theatre, an energy room and treatment accommodation at ground floor.
The hybrid theatre, fitted with the latest surgical equipment and technologies, includes robotic operating machines, and is adaptable for various surgical procedures. The extension took place alongside an occupied hospital. The team designed a build programme and logistical plan that had minimal impact on patients, staff and daily operations, and allowed the hospital to run business as normal.
Our second project Spire Centennial Park in Bushey, Hertfordshire, was broken down into two phases. The first phase completed in November 2017 and involved converting existing consulting rooms into bedrooms for outpatients – allowing refurbishment works to take place elsewhere in the hospital. The team then worked on a new medical diagnostic centre, that houses a new MRI suite and x-ray facility.
The second phase, which involves increasing the capacity of the main hospital site is due for completion in December 2018.
