Construction Director
Location: Frankfurt Contract: Full time

  • Managing the existing team of Project and Construction Managers in order to implement and standardise as far as practically possible, the firm’s highest standard of client management and project delivery
  • Plan skill requirements for assigned projects, managing and personally working with the project teams
  • Proactively transfer resourcing skills to project leadership staff
  • Ensure continuity of resourcing for assigned projects
  • Recruit, train and develop appropriate staff within Germany and maintain responsibility for their advancement
  • Ensure that all projects are completed within budget, cost and programme
  • Enhancing the company’s image and reputation by ensuring that all projects are delivered to the highest standards, meeting and exceeding client expectations
  • Ensuring that the operating model, vision, values and health & safety requirements are being adhered to at all times
  • Supporting and assisting the Country Manager for the business plan and the growth requirements
  • Supporting the Business Development Manager on winning jobs
  • Assisting for study and preparation of all tenders
  • Supporting so that the administrative, reporting and accountancy requirements are being implemented locally.
  • Working with the Commercial Team to ensure effective cash flowmanagement and the production of accurate management accounts

Requirements

  • At least 15 years of experience with a proven track record of consistently exceeding performance goals and managing operations in a demanding business environment
  • A track record of career progression up to Operations Manager / Construction 
  • Director status from within the Construction sector and, preferable within a recognised Fit Out Contractor
  • To have been fully responsible for the operational and contractual management of a division turnover in excess of 15 million euro.  
  • Able to control a fully autonomous business e.g. cash flow, profit etc.
  • Highly operational focussed and reactive 
  • Ability to respond to changing requirements internally and externally
  • Able to identify strengths and weaknesses of staff, to develop staff in line with training plans and to carry out appraisals on a regular basis
  • A good in-depth understanding of the construction environment, market and practices with, if possible, experience in the fit-out and refurbishment sectors in office, hotel and retail
  • Strong relationships with potential clients 
  • Understanding of and alignment to the firm’s vision and values
  • An excellent communicator, the candidate will have a high commercial awareness and be capable of representing the firm at the highest level internally and externally
  • Should be robust and resilient, possessing drive, determination and natural enthusiasm
  • German national  
  • Knowledge of local market
  • Fluent in English
  • Relevant professional degree in construction related course
